Professor of University of Birmingham Visited IUB

The School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE) and the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (SLASS) and the Outreach, Extension and Continuing Education wing of the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor successfully organized three sessions and a public lecture respectively on December 18 and 19, 2022. Prof. Ataur Rahman Belal, Professor of Accounting and Sustainability, the Department of Accounting, University of Birmingham, UK was the key resource person.

On December 18, 2022, Prof. Belal mentored IUB young faculty members in exploring pathways to research and higher research degrees. Around 25 faculty members from the SBE and SLASS attended this productive session. On the same day, Prof. Belal offered a public lecture organized by SBE on “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Translation and Localization at the Organization level” at the multipurpose hall. The program started with a welcome speech by IUB’s Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Niaz Ahmed Khan, PhD. IUB’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Tanweer Hasan, PhD delivered his concluding remarks.

In his presentation, Prof. Belal discussed the key research question, different levels of SDGs Translation, Organizational Level Translation, Research Design, Implications and Contributions, Some Early Findings, and relevant topics. Following the lecture, the floor was open for a question-answer session where both the faculty members and the administrative staff participated fervently. The Deans, Heads of academic departments, faculty members of the SBE, SLASS, administrative staff, and students joined the public lecture.

On December 19, 2022, the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), IUB organized a seminar on ‘Funded Research Proposal and Grant Document Preparation’ where Prof. Ataur Rahman Belal was the keynote speaker. IUB’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Niaz Ahmed Khan delivered his concluding remarks. Faculty members of the SBE, SLASS, and SELS joined this session. The two-day engagement of Prof. Belal in the capacity of Visiting Resource Person/Academic Visitor at IUB ended with a one-on-one (individual) session with faculty members of the SBE and SLASS as a follow-up of mentoring young faculty members.
