About Us

Quality assurance has always been IUB’s priority since its inception. In order to substantiate this, an institutional approach has recently been taken by establishing a cell called ‘Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)’. Currently, a number of quality assurance strategies and mechanisms are being developed by adapting and incorporating national QA guidelines and international best practices of higher education by the support of the QAU, HEQEP under the IQAC. Designing of academic programs with specific degree offering entities, taking strategies and systematic review of the Self-Assessment (SA) units and continuous improvement of the faculty and associated staff are focused in the QA mechanisms. Governance and management issues of the University/Schools/Departments are also included in the QA framework. In addition, IQAC also intends capacity strengthening of the schools/departments by human resource development. A skill development mechanism is implemented through training, workshop and visit. Recruitment, staff development, career development, research and extension activities are also focused in the QA system.

QA manual tools and documents are being developed consulting with the stakeholder. The outcomes of QA at program level are: SA reports, modernization of the curricula, introduction of programs in emerging subjects, promotion of academic innovation, course evaluation report on a regular basis, evaluation of teaching performance on a regular basis, ability to meet the expectations of stakeholders, readiness to meet the quality requirements, program accreditation, effectiveness and competitiveness of the programs.

IUB is committed to develop a quality culture by implementing the quality assurance practices. IQAC in the university has the responsibility to bridge all schools, departments, faculty members and top management of the University for implementing the QA program.

Currently, there are a number of committees in relation to quality assurance at IUB. The University formed a Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) headed by the Vice Chancellor. Pro-vice Chancellor and Deans of Schools along with some other key personnel are the members of the QAC. The Syndicate and Trust also approved the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a permanent entity at IUB. The cell has a director, an additional director and three office staff. Alongside there are Self-Assessment Committees (SAs) at every department, who are responsible to administer QA activities and report to IQAC for continuous development. Each SA is formulated by three faculty members; the Head and two members.
